The Hitchin Post mission is to provide quality Deerskin products that will exceed the Quality of other Leather Manufacturers to both business and individuals. We will focus our energies on giving prompt and courteous service to our customers, establishing niche markets for our product lines and maintaining steady long-term growth and profitability. The Hitchin Post is a Sole Proprietorship founded in 1984 by owner, artists, Ellen and Bob Chandler. We have been making handcrafted Deerskin Leather Products since 1995. In the fall, we buy raw Whitetale Deer hides from local hunters, which we take to a tannery in Gloversville, NY for tanning. Special care is taken in selecting only the softest and most supple deerskins, tanned in the U.S., for our moccasins, handbags, wallets and accessories. Each item is painstakingly created step by step, from the cutting to the hand lacing and lasting of each moccasin. We also create custom made coats, vests and capes, using either our hides or those belonging to our customers themselves.
