I started making my special scarves for myself and many women were asking where they could purchase this unique scarf. My scarf is designed to slip over the wearer’s head with no knotting or tying involved and drapes automatically. I applied for a patent on my special design and registered a trademark name of L’Escarfé® . At age 65, Scarves by Margaret became my new business. I began by selling to small boutiques, fashion shows, craft shows and a brochure mailing. My biggest decision was to create a web site and find a larger market for my scarves. Since joining the Internet my special scarves are selling internationally. They were sold to the Government of Puerto Rico to be worn with newly designed uniforms. The Breast Cancer Coalition in the State of Pennsylvania promoted L’ Escarfé® as a successful fundraiser for their Breast Cancer Research Project. After many requests for a head covering for Cancer patients I designed a Turban Scarf. The Turban Scarf is a simple adjustable cotton turban that wraps around the head and is secured by two ties. The Turban Scarves are also being sold internationally. There are other scarves available including a silk musical coat scarf that has been sold to the Detroit Opera Theater for the past five Opera seasons.
