Keystone Mercantile Company in Clothing Suppliers & Clothes Directory

It all started with a man selling shirts and shoes out of a covered wagon in 1920, Its a familiar story: the beginnings of a business because one enterprising soul took a risk. In our case, however, one mans risk was followed by another mans risk, so that 80 years later, weve expanded from selling out of a covered wagon to bringing you our quality goods via cyberspace. So much can happen in 80 years. Our company, headquartered in a small town in northwestern Pennsylvania, has stayed in the hands of only two families, a real feat in this day and age of transience. The man with the covered wagon turned the business over to his son, who had it until 1957, when he sold it to my father. In 1984, when my father passed away, I came home to take over. Over the years-through the Depression, a World War, the oil and steel booms and their declines-sons have followed fathers and tried to stay with the times without losing the benefits of the legacy: offering quality merchandise with small-town service. And thats what Id like to continue doing with this new web site. This web site idea follows a decision I made about ten years ago when I noticed that more and more of our customers were clamoring for our big and tall mens merchandise. Larger men-so accustomed to not being able to find a very wide selection in the clothes they wanted to wear-would buy in bulk when they came in the store. Finally, it seemed clear that the next risk for me to take was to up our inventory of big and tall sizes. The response was overwhelming, and over the years, manufacturers followed suit and began to offer wider selections of clothing for big and tall men. We carry most of the major names-Woolrich, Carhartt, Wranglers, Lees, Levis-with our goal being to offer a wide variety in both selection and price, avoiding narrowing our inventory to the proliferation of high-end designer brands. We wanted to be sure a big or tall man could buy a pair of casual pants for under $50 or a suit for under $200. That was our commitment. We want to further our commitment by making sure our merchandise is available to as many people as possible. Today, that means using the Internet. So here I am, following the tradition of risk-taking and staying true to the legacy: Through this site, youll have access to the same big and tall quality merchandise Ive been carrying for ten years and receive the same small-town service that has been our habit for eighty.
