Long Tall Sally in Clothing Suppliers & Clothes Directory

Important highlights in the LTS history! Long Tall Sally was founded by Judy Rich a 6 tall American who came to London in 1974. Frustrated at not being able to find clothes to fit in any of the lovely London shops and boutiques, she set about creating a store that tall women would be proud to come into, where everything would fit and where they would feel positive about their height. Here is a brief time line of the company: 1974 Judy came to live in London and roamed around all the fashionable boutiques with her average height friends and could never find anything to fit. 1975 The idea for Long Tall Sally is born and Judy spends several months bombarding British manufacturers to make clothes longer for her potential taller customers. 1976 The first Long Tall sally store opens on Chiltern Street in Londons fashionable west end. 1977 The first mail order catalogues are sent out to the growing mailing list. These first catalogues are simply line drawings on an A4 leaflet. 1978 Open second Long Tall Sally store in Manchester. This is the start of expansion and over the next 20 years, 25 more stores are opened in the UK. 1992 Mail Order is growing! We move this department from the basement of a store to its own warehouse on an industrial estate in Croydon. 1997 Website launched offering on-line transactions to thousands of women in the UK and abroad. 1998 Open Clearance Store offering end of season lines in the Designer Outlet Village, Swindon. 1999 Most recent store opens in Liverpool with new revamped shop fit. 2000 Tall Zone brand is launched aimed at the fashion conscious tall girl. Shops, catalogue and website - how does it work. We sell to customers through 3 channels - shops, mail order via the catalogue and here on the website. Some customers buy through just one channel and others shop around which is great. The catalogue (and website) shows the most complete range of our clothes. Some of our smaller stores cannot carry the entire Long Tall Sally collection so we select things for stores that we think will have the widest appeal. The catalogue or website is the best place to see the full range, but it is always worth visiting a store to try something out for fit, style and feel. If you are in store and there is something you want but it is not there in your size or length, the sales consultants will be happy to order it from Mail Order and send it through to you.
