Steven and Allan began by manufacturing jeanswear from hemp, an eco-friendly fiber that is grown with little or no chemical pesticides, yet boasts excellent durability. With Stellas help, Two Star Dog became the first American company to develop and market complete sportswear lines made from this fabric. Even the companys name is based on the fiber, tracing its origins to African tribes who used hemp in rituals under the canis major and canis minor star constellations...hence Two Star Dog. The companys production grew very quickly and so did their knowledge of garment-dyeing, where clothing is cut and sewn from unprocessed, natural fabric and then dyed to order. Over the years the company has attained a reputation for superior quality clothing in the eco-community and in mainstream boutiques.
