The Dance Works was formed in Seattle, Washington in 1982 by Mary Price Boday. Originally, it started with the Schachtner pointe shoes, the same shoes that Mary wore when she was dancing with the Zurich Ballet of Zurich, Switzerland, After one year, The Dance Works expanded to include Freed of London, Blochs, Chacott, Baryshnikov, K D dids, Slim-Ez, Danskin, Mirella, Sansha, Nancy, etc. The Dance Works moved from Seattle in the fall of 1990, as Mary had accepted the position of director of the dance department of Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pennsylvania. In 1994 Mary bacame the artistic director of The Peoria Ballet, and now that is where The Dance Works is located. The Dance Works is built around the expertise of Marys knowledge of dance and the proper fit of pointe and ballet shoes. The Dance Works is specialized around dancers, and Mary and her husband Richard are the ones who answer your calls and fit you. Since our schedules are around dance every day, the hours of The DAnce Works fluctuate daily, but your call is promptly responded to.
